Ghost and bat-shaped potato crisps peek through haunted house windows on the package. A 5-ounce bag of these Trader Joe's Halloween treats costs $2.49.

Trader Joe's calls these "crispy potato snacks" and that seems like a good call. They are more of a crisp than chip. And these crisps really are ghost and bat-shaped! 

You'll notice that the main ingredient here is P O T A T O. Potato flour, potato starch, and um, more potato starch. Lots of potato to sink your fangs, er, teeth into! (Sorry.)

The suggested serving size is 30 crisps. That'll get you 140 calories and less than one gram of sugar, fiber, and protein.

He says (Mark): The crunch, my gosh, the crunch. (Pardon my riff on an Elaine quote from Seinfeld.) Fun shapes for the upcoming Halloween season, but the flavor is a bit lacking. A little more salt or seasoning could remedy this. Without an accompanying zesty dip, the flavor seems to have ghosted this TJ snack. In fact, it drives me batty ;-)

Perfectly crisp with a "neutral" taste - Trader Joe's Ghosts & Bats are just the ticket if you want a little crunch alongside your sandwich, crumbled over a salad, or as an afternoon snack. Because the flavor is strictly potato and salt, these go with any flavor dip you can imagine - savory or sweet. I was impressed that almost every crisp in the bag was intact! Also, they're cute! Super cute! Pack these in your kiddo's lunchbox and he/she will have cafeteria bragging rights! Serve them at a Halloween party, and you'll be the ghostess with the mostest!
