Frozen desserts and ice cream never go out of season, in our opinion. Thirty-seven degrees outside? Bring on the triple scoop!
In that spirit, today, we review Trader Joe's Figo Half Dipped Chocolate & Vanilla Sandwich Bars.
Two things strike me about the name of this item.
- "Figo!" which, according to Google, translates from Italian to "cool" or "sounds cool."
- These are not called "ice cream" sandwich bars but rather a "frozen dessert."
These bars are made in Italy! I'm unsure why these aren't labeled as ice cream since they contain milk and cream. I'm guessing it's some sort of regulation? Hmmm.

A package of 6 frozen sandwich bars costs $4.49. The suggested serving size is 2, and like they sometimes do, Trader Joe's lists the nutritional value for a serving size AND the entire box. It always gets a giggle out of me when I see that. Trader Joe's, thanks for the vote of confidence.

He says (Mark): A new twist on one of my favorite frozen treats! The half-dipped was a nice touch, but the smaller, step down in size was brilliant. Definitely eye-catching. Great cookie, ice cream, and chocolate dip combination. Serving size was two? Someone should have told me before I put the box back in the freezer ;-)

She says (Bridget): I'm more of an ice cream sandwich gal than a dipped ice cream bar gal. I loved the combo of the two here, though. The chocolate "dip" coating is yummy and doesn't break off in one massive piece as you bite in (looking at you, Dairy Queen). The sandwich cookie part is thick and has that classic "sticky" texture of an ice cream sandwich but is a bit thicker. I can taste the hazelnut paste in the cookie. They're good! Are they Hold the Cone good? Not quite.

Will I buy them again? Probably when our niece and nephews come to visit!
